Day 266 - Soccer, More Legos and Fall Festival Recap

It's Saturday, which means soccer. This morning's game was scheduled for 8:30, so I didn't get my long run in this morning. The weather was perfect - a crisp 50 degF and sunny.

I positioned myself along the Teams' side of the field, which is the east side. So much better for taking pictures of the action.
10.09.25 - Address The Ball

The green team won again, 4-0. Erica had a couple of opportunities to score on goal, but it didn't happen - she played the wing position towards the end of the game.

After the game, Brian set out to complete the Medieval Market Hotel. Once he finished, he set up market square scene and we took a picture of it. Oh, I stand corrected - Brian took the picture. We set the camera on the tripod and he clicked the remote control.

Last night, Brian's school held its Fall Festival Fundraiser. Games, dunk booth, inflatables, silent auction, raffles and lots of goodies. Erica served as a Middle School National Honor Society volunteer all night, working several of the games, and the Face Painting Area.

And she coerced Brian into her Face Painting area so she could paint a skull on his cheek. I was amazed by their cooperation!

It was a great event and lots of fun!

265/365 - Medieval Market Lego Details

Brian has the Blacksmith house finished and set up little street people from the Medieval Marketplace. I love the details of this set. Even Erica started to play with the characters in the street.

The Fish Monger

Knights Carry The Treasure

Tomorrow Brian will complete the Hotel. I'm sure I'll take pictures of it, too!

264/365 - 1600 Lego Pieces

With some of his birthday money, Brian ordered one Lego set from lego.com (and I thought B&H Photo’s on-line store was dangerous – but this one certainly tops it, or at least it seems more dangerous for an eleven year old Lego fan). The package arrived today and Brian got right to work putting together the 1600+ pieces of the Medieval Market Village. At the end of the day, he had the bottom section of the Blacksmith shop put together. The buildings are hinged to open and close, giving you access to the details inside as well as outside.

10.09.23 - 1600 Lego Pieces

If he doesn’t put it all together by the end of the weekend, we’ll have to move it to the dining room table as the cleaning lady is coming on Monday. But he may just get it all done by then!

194/365 - 3 in 1 Creator Lego Set

We went to the store in search of two of those "saucer" type chairs for the kids. This is the perfect time to find them, with the "Back to School" sales starting to ramp up. We found several on-line, but the specific color / fabric combos were not available at the Bed Bath and Beyond or the Wal-Mart on the north side of town.

Instead, we ended up with another Lego set for Brian - I'm finding it a little hard to grumble about this one, though, as you get 3 possible Lego creations in one set of bricks - the sports car (Brian says it's a Ferrari - I'll have to take his word on it), an armored car (Brian calls it the Jeep) and a go-cart.

10.07.15 - 3 in 1 Lego Set

The sports car is finished, and the car is nice, with articulating doors, trunk and hood, along with V-8 engine. Pretty cool.

155/365 - Lego Jet Creation

Brian spent most of the day putting together this Lego Jet.

10.06.06 - The Lego Jet

He was very proud of this creation - it measures 18" in diagonal, has three jets, two torpedo launchers and an inside cargo area. Very complex stuff.

125/365 - Pirate Code Lego Game

Brian has discovered a new Lego product - Lego "board" games.

The premise - you use the Legos to build the playing board. Then you play the game. I think it's a neat concept (albeit a costly one - one of these board games run around $20).

Our first acquisition - Pirate Code

Brian also purchased Monster Four. We played several games this afternoon and I have to say it was fun!

50/365 - Lego Building

We entered this weekend with a high possibility of snow, and sure enough, a fresh layer dusted the outside grounds (truthfully, I walked home through the falling snow at midnight, so I knew it would be there in the morning).

Fortunately, the "big storm" forecast for tonight didn't materialize and we should only receive rain.

So, another lazy Saturday afternoon, with Brian putting together some new Bionicles he purchased.

10.02.20 - More Bionicles

Yes, I know the picture is pretty crappy, but one of the things I've learned about Project 365 - the pictures don't have to be perfect - they just need to represent a bit of your day.

281/365 - Sponge Bob Legos

One of the numerous Lego themed gifts from Brian's birthday. Cory has given Brian Sponge Bob Legos in previous years, and I thought they were fun.

Bob and Eugene are in front of the Krusty Krab. [Note - I had to ask Scott and Brian for the name of the crab character - I'm not a big Sponge Bob fan]

265/365 - Newest Bionicle

We let Brian open a couple of his birthday presents early - including this mongo Lego Bionicle. He put it together all by himself, even though he thought he might need help.

Newest Bionicle

Look familiar? It's in the upper right corner of the magazine, from last week's 12 on 12:

122/365 - Lego Cave In

I can't seem to go to the Wal-Mart with Brian and emerge sans some new Lego toy. Today was no different - Brian and I went to the Wal-Mart while Erica was at riding lessons (she rode the new horse, Sammy, for the first time).

Brian did pay for the Bionicle toy with his own money. And he spent the rest of the evening building the thing until Scott came home from his business dinner.

Do your kids obsess over any particular toys? Obviously, for me, my grown up toys include scrapbooking supplies, photography equipment and electronic gadgets. Erica loves books. Scott loves coins and golf equipment. I guess we all have our vices. So what's a few more plastic lego pieces?
