156/365 - The Game Ball

While I was away, Brian earned the Game Ball for his performance during the Friday, May 28th game. His stats that night - 3 for 3 at bat and scored 3 runs. His team won the game against the Rays, winning 16-11.

The coaches decide which player get the game ball after each game. It's a great way to motivate and encourage the players.

155/365 - Lego Jet Creation

Brian spent most of the day putting together this Lego Jet.

He was very proud of this creation - it measures 18" in diagonal, has three jets, two torpedo launchers and an inside cargo area. Very complex stuff.

154/365 - Back in the Pool

It rained yesterday, but today it cleared up in the afternoon so that the kids could romp around in the pool.

10.06.05 - Summer Fun

Because the back patio slopes away from the house, we can't fill the pool up all the way to 3 feet depth. And the kids are so big now, it almost seems like a wading pool. But really, they don't care.

153/365 - Familiar Friend

You know those Entex Easy set pools? We had one several (7) years ago, and then another one a couple (4) years ago, and last year, it was all about the slip-n-slide, so I thought we were past the Entex Pool Phase.

Apparently not. While I was away in London, the kids persuaded Scott to buy another pool. A 12 foot diameter, 3 foot deep model. I learned about this from my friend, Kellie, on Facebook.

And an old familiar friend was brought out from the depths of the basement - Sadie, the turtle floatie. She looks right at home on the pool's surface. I should dig up some pictures of Sadie 7 years ago. She still looks great.

152/365 - Back Home on the Prairie

I thought I would have a nice evening at home, but I forgot Brian had a baseball game tonight. I took this picture while waiting for the game to start, walking around the petting zoo next to the field. Hey, if I sat down, I would have fallen asleep.

The team won the game. Just two more games left in the regular season and the Cardinals are still undefeated!

Day 151 - Saying Goodbye

I guess all visits must come to an end. I am glad I was able to take this trip with my sister to visit Michele, Andrew and Felix. We don't get to see each other all that often, and, as you know, those babies are only wee-little like this once and in a flash, they grow up.

The most beautiful, clear morning beckoned us up and we said our goodbyes before heading out to the airport. I still managed to take several dozen pictures! (Not that I'm going to post them all here. Heck, I'm it will take me another week to process them!)

Saying Goodbye

Our transatlantic flight back to the states was very uneventful and far more comfortable than the flight over. You would be surprised how a mere 6" of additional legroom can make a difference - it absolutely does (and I'm a small person).

Teresa and I parted at the Philly Airport, and I arrived back in Chicago in time for my shuttle bus back home. I walked into the house around 1am and found Brian fast asleep on the couch, as he had been waiting up for me. It's nice to be home.
[But I still miss my sisters and new nephew!]

150/365 - Reunion

Today, we visited the Victoria and Albert Museum, where I met up with my college roommate, Sue, for lunch. If you had asked either of us 20 years ago, when we last saw each other, where we might be meeting for lunch now, it certainly wouldn't have been in London!

As we caught up with each others' lives, I found it amazing how far we've both come. And I know we both continue to change and grow. The best thing - Sue is still a great friend after all these years. Social media like Facebook really facilitates these continued friendships. I had lost touch with Sue after college, but a few years ago found her on Facebook. And hence our meeting today.

For some fun, here is a picture of the two of us in 1988, on Spring Break in San Fransisco:
