...of the Christmas / Holiday cards we received from friends near and far.
We are so blessed to have friends next door and friends as far away as China. I love the prominence of photo cards and really love it when we get to see picture of the entire family, not just the kids. I wish I could capture all of the cards in one 4x6 capture, but I think this one gets most of them.
We love the comic strip, Pickles (does that mean we are getting old and can relate?) and I love the show, Glee, so imagine my delight when the two are paired up today.
Ah, so much fun. I wish life could be as fun as Glee sometimes, breaking out into full song, with a full orchestra accompaniment.
Since visiting Michele, Andrew and little Felix, I've been missing my little baby fix. It's one thing to view still pictures (which I do enjoy), or talk on the phone, but video conferencing takes things to a new level!
I had installed Skype on my laptop a few weeks back because I knew Michele had it installed on hers. I had no idea how to "call" anyone, but I managed to link up with Michele this afternoon. I saw her online and pushed that "call" button.
Voila! She and Felix were there! It was like something out of the Jetsons or Star Trek. Of course, I had to take a picture.
I'm looking forward to more frequent contact with Michele, and hope the kids will enjoy this new mode of communication. Michele plans to get Mom and Dad set up, too. Then we can hold virtual get togethers! Who knows what we'll be able to do in a couple more years. "Beam Me Up Scotty" anyone?

OK, I bought him a new TV for his birthday (yesterday). Now the old TV can go downstairs to the basement.
We are so happy that GLEE is back, airing new episodes, and bringing more music, laughter and tears to our Tuesday evenings.
While I thought tonight's episode was more "serious", I loved message about feeling beautiful in your own skin. Something most of us have dealt with at one point or another in our lives.
Last week's Power of Madonna episode (although a little racy in parts) was brilliant, and even I succumbed to purchasing the Borderline / Open Your Heart song on iTunes.
So this is where you will find me, every Tuesday evening, on the couch, bopping to the songs of the New Directions Glee club.
Erica used Windows Movie Maker and put together a compilation of various video footage she had of Brian. Coupled with some still photos set to music, she named her creation "The Brian Show".
A lot of silliness wrapped up into one package!
They decided to watch it tonight. They really wanted to upload the video to youtube so they could stream it to the big TV, but I said "No". Then I took a picture of Brian watching his silly antics on the computer.
Note - Not an iPad post, although it made its debut today. Just not in our household [Maybe in a year or two, *wink*wink].
We are now Netflix'd with the ability to stream movies from Netflix to our TV, via the new Blue Ray Player we purchased. Don't you love Technology?
I couldn't let the weekend pass without highlighting the DVD we bought Saturday afternoon. No, we didn't go to the midnight premiere parties [we're too old]. We subsequently watched two times on Saturday and once on Sunday.
And we're still "Team Jacob" here. Erica still prefers Edward in the books, but prefers Jacob in the movie.
Today wraps up the 2010 Winter Olympics from Vancouver. Over the past two weeks, we have watched great races, games and performances. Today's US vs Canada Hockey game was the culmination of the Games, a last minute goal to send it to OT and the Canadian team victorious in the end. Yes, I wish the US would have won, but what a great effort overall.
Our routine Monday evening entertainment - a show about a group of gymnasts training for the Olympics and the drama associated with teenage athletes and their families.
Tonight's drama - the group goes against the Established US National Gymnastics association by inviting the Chinese National Team to Colorado. Of course, there's subplots of entangled relationships and friendships. Typical soapy stuff. Erica's favorite show.
Our favorite Christmas show aired tonight on ABC - A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Even the kids clamor about this holiday special - you would have thought they were "too old" for Snoopy and the Gang, but they were so excited about it tonight.
The Real Meaning of Christmas - that's what the holiday is really about.
The latest Harry Potter movie becomes available on DVD this Tuesday* and as a result, all of the previous movies have been aired on TV all weekend long. We love the HP series, and Brian decided to channel Harry, using a chopstick as his wand.
(I know the chopstick is blurry, so you'll have to take my word for it).
*We won't be buying the latest movie because we're waiting for the entire set - yeah, that will be at least three years out, but we're patient!
Of course, how could we go through this weekend without some mention of the highly anticipated opening of the New Moon movie? Well, here is my [boring] contribution to the countless blogs devoted to all things New Moon and The Twilight Saga.
We have this hanging in our kitchen, along with the kids' art work and other random print outs.
I am the first of the family to see the movie. Erica will attend later this week with a group of friends, and Scott will go in a couple of weeks (when it is less crowded - and he might take Brian). The theatre was crowded for a Sunday afternoon matinee, the audience comprised of mainly female, mainly tweens.
In a nutshell, the movie covered all of the main parts of the book, although it moved along at a snail's pace. Our group of 30-40 year old women are in the "Team Jacob" camp (and watching the movie confirmed our choice).

Pardon the interruption - I stepped away from the computer momentarily.
So, we all enjoyed the movie. I'm sure those who are big fans of the Twilight Saga will enjoy it as well. I just don't want to see so much of Rob Pattinson in the future. 'Nuf said.
Even though the World Series has pre-empted GLEE for the 2nd week in a row, I've been able to get my Glee fix due to the release of Volume 1 songs yesterday. I purchased my copy at Target after reading their version included 3 extra songs.
The verdict? If you are GLEE fan because of the music (and who isn't?), I highly recommend it. The extra tracks include "I Want to Sex You Up" (which I love because it is sung acapella), "I Could Have Danced All Night" (I love My Fair Lady), and "Leaving on a Jet Plane".
I can't wait for the next new episodes to see how they work "Defying Gravity" into the show. Yeah, it's fabulous on the CD.
This morning, Brian complained about his stomach hurting whenever he moved. [Actually, he had complained about it last night, but I dismissed his grievances as excuses not to go to bed]
It was clear that he was in serious pain, especially when he sat up or laid down. I had him point to where the pain was coming from - the lower right part of his abdomen, between the belly button and the hip. Hmmmm.... I recognized that as the appendix area.....
So we ended up going to the Dr's office, where he was poked at and prodded a bit before determining he had probably strained a muscle while playing on the Slip-N-Slide Monday night. Whew - that was a relief.
But Brian took it easy the rest of the day, and we'll be more careful the next time he plays on that Slip-N-Slide.

What about today's events? Two major celebrity deaths - Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. You just never know when your time will be up, so make every day count.
