Just as Lilacs personified the end of May while I was growing up in Massachusetts, the Peony now personifies the end of May (and my impending birthday on Wednesday).

94/365 - Kissed by the Rain

The flowering trees and shrubs have exploded in color just over the last week. The rhododendron has started to bloom, and today's afternoon shower gave it some moisture to brighten up the flowers.

After years of not buying cut flowers "because they will only die in a week", I find myself nowadays considering their beauty a gift to be enjoyed.
