Don't Stop Believing - Watch GLEE

I finally caught the Pilot Episode of the new Fox Series, GLEE. I Love, Love, Loved it. I don't watch much TV, but I plan to catch this series when it resumes this Wednesday at 8:00 my time.

Yeah, it's about Glee Club in High School - yeah, I see the parallels between it and High School Musical. But it portrays more than the "don't be defined by the cliques you belong to in High School" - OK - maybe there's a heavy dose of that, plus a bunch of funny characters that draw you in. And there's the music. Who doesn't love Journey's Don't Stop Believing, sung by performers who love to sing?

If you didn't catch it the first go around, you can watch it as I did, on hulu.com. I've even embedded the video here:

And a sneak peak from the coming episode - it's only 1 minute long, so you have time to watch now!

250/365 - Lots of Dough

Not money, but real flour and water dough. I didn't make the dough myself, but bought frozen bread dough - works great as pizza dough. The kids get a big piece to work with. Brian created his own personal pizza and two pizza rolls.

Knead the Dough

Normally I would post what Erica created, but she was at K's house this afternoon - when she got home, she told me to take her dough and form it into a simple ball. Hey, I like how easy that is! (And she ate the big ball of bread after it was baked)

249/365 - Library Visit

Another visit to the Library. The book mobile was reinstated during the summer, but ran its last round two weeks ago, so my checked out items were due.

The Library is pretty all lit up at dusk. I need to take pictures from the other sides of the building - each side is designed a little differently which provides visual interest.

248/365 - Rich Colors of Fall (and my PC Baker)

The Pampered Chef Square Baker I ordered a couple weeks ago arrived today, delivered by my friend, Amy. I bought the baker to replace the oval baker that broke earlier this year. Pampered Chef no longer makes the oval baker (boo!), so I settled for the square one. The catalog touts the square baker as the "perfect brownie baker". We'll have to test that out this weekend :-]

A bonus - the pretty Cranberry Glaze. A perfect color for the Fall table:

247/365 - Somebody's Watching Me

I didn't see the two praying mantis (or is it mantii?) buried in the foliage of the Sedum as I was taking pictures of the bees. I was secretly hoping the monarch butterfly would return to the flowers, but she never came back.

September brings the change of the season, apparent with the emergence of fall flowers and cooler days. I hope we'll find other hidden surprises, like the eyes watching me from the leaves.

246/365 - The End of the Whipped Cream

What happens when you buy the whipped cream that comes in a can? Lots of whipped cream "shots" (you know what I am talking about), and an occasional mess.

End of the Whipped Cream

The mess occurred towards the end of the can, when just a tiny bit of the whipping cream remained in the container, and Brian, not leaning his head back far enough, let all the propellant out, with no accompanying whipping cream. Then all this un-whipped stuff came oozing out of the can. Fortunately, he was outside when this happened, so the mess was minimized. And I will think twice (no, three times) before buying another can of whipping cream. Because it always causes chaos.

245/365 - Tainted Hairbrush

090830DSC_1411_4x6_texture
My styling brush -I added a texture to make it look "tainted"

The kids decided it would be "fun" to put some "stuff" on the hairbrush I use to blow dry my hair with. They sprayed some Tag [you know - that body spray for men] on it, then glopped on some Dep gel and finally added a bit of shaving cream. The culprits spread on the gel and shaving cream in a way that I couldn't ascertain there was anything "wrong" with my brush.

Until I used it to dry / curl my hair. Which brought out all the scents of the gel, Tag and shaving cream. Then the heat of the hairdryer (I use the hottest setting) reacted with all that "stuff" to form what can only be described as a toxic burnt offgas. Something the EPA would have a problem with. Of course, the smell lingered in my hair all day long. Eww and double Eww.

I took action by cleaning the brush. No more residue. All is well again (until the kids get into something else).
